The Alberta province of Canada declared the coming into effect of 2 different streams of immigration on Thursday, June 14, one of which is a new Express Entry pathway to permanent residence to Canada.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) says the reforms will give many advantages for current and potential candidates, along with international graduate students.
Alberta has the most significant number of international students in the Canadian Prairies, with 26,255 studying there in 2017, according to data of Canadian Government.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program said the reforms are intended to:
• simplify processes:
• lessen wait times: and
• provide transparent access for candidates across all sectors and industries in the province of Alberta.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
The now active Alberta Express Entry stream allows students of international with a profile in the federal Express Entry system a route to the permanent residence in Canada
About this new stream, the AINP declared that
Applicants who have expressed strong ties to the province of Alberta and who can help strengthen the government’s development economically and diversification preferences will be invited to apply. Under this stream, International graduates will also be invited.
The system Express Entry
manages applicants under three major economic classes of immigration – the FSW Class, the FST Class and the Canadian Experience Class.
A nomination of provincial results in Express Entry applicants receiving 600 further Comprehensive Ranking System points and an ITA for permanent immigration to Canada
To be considered under the Express Entry Stream of Alberta, international students need to create first a profile in Express Entry and meet program specifications to enter the pool of Express entry
Employer-Driven and Strategic Recruitment Replaced by Alberta Opportunity Stream
The second stream that the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program revealed on June 14, 2018, is the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
To become qualified for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, people must satisfy all eligibility conditions, which include language residency, educational qualification, work experience and requirements of income level.
Even though the program is not only intended for students of international, the eligibility standards welcome applications from people with adequate language proficiency (CLB 4), high school level education, and in the province relevant work experience.
To apply for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, global students will require to:
Show that they have minimum 6 months of work experience in the province of Alberta in a profession related to their study field (this is less than the required for other candidates).
Meet the same least language and income requirements as other candidates.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream needs candidates to be presently full-time working in Alberta in an occupation considered eligible by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program announces international students who graduated from an approved post-secondary institution of Alberta and are working on a Post-Graduation Work Permit
are qualified for the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program states international students holding a Work Permit of Post-Graduation who finished their studies in other provinces of Canada are not qualified for the program.
Before the changes executed on June 14, 2018, the AINP had two categories of Canadian immigration
committed to Canadian international student graduates following now-closed Employer-Driven and Alberta Strategic Recruitment Streams.
The Category of International Graduate was designed for students who graduated from the post-secondary institution of Canada and have received a full-time, permanent job offer from an employer in Alberta.
The Category of Post-Graduate Worker was designed for students staying in Alberta, who finished graduation from an eligible post-secondary educational institution in the province of Alberta and who carry a Post-Graduation Work permit.
