121st Express Entry Draw

On July 10 121st Express Entry draw was held which issued 3,600 invitations to seek the Canadian permanent residence. This was the single draw issuing the most invitations since Jan 23 2019.  There was also a two points slump to 460 in the CRS cut-off score, in comparison to the score of 462, in the June 26 Express Entry draw.

The large size of the draw

The large size of this draw shows a sign of the high admissions targets set for 2019 and 2020 in the Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry. The programs are:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class,

Express Entry is also managing some of the Provincial Nominee Programs, in Canada which have a high admission target for the next two years.

Express Entry Candidates get a rank depending on the scores gained for their education, skilled work experience age, and language proficiency. The top ranking candidates get invitation to apply and can move ahead to get the Canadian permanent residence. Moreover, these invited candidates get 60 days to apply for permanent residence. IRCC set the processing standard of only six months to benefit the applications in Express Entry.

Issuing 45,400 Invitations

IRCC so far has issued 45,400 Invitations during 2019. The Express Entry record for the department is 89,800 ITAs issued in 2018. It is moving ahead to surpass it during the course of the year.  In the draw held today, there was an increase of 250 ITAs in comparison to the 10 draws held from January 30, which had issued 3,350 Invitations.

The cause for the low cut-off score is the large draw size, and the passing of only two weeks, in the two draws. In the last three draws the cut-off score had a gradual decreased from 465 touching 462 and is now at 460. IRCC has also made use of the tie breaker mechanism in this draw set at June 11, 2019, 12:27:18 UTC.

The future trends

The candidates having the CRS score of 460 and above it, and who presented a profile entry to the pool of Express Entry, prior to that specific date and time, will receive the ITA.

The candidates who obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree and secured 8 points in each category of the IELTS had a better chance of obtaining the ITA in this draw. There is an expectation that draw sizes will start increasing now because Canada has a high admissions target for the Express Entry programs.  In case this trend this continues, the July- Dec 2019 period is all set to have another record.
